Internet Sex Crime Defence Lawyers

We have extensive experience working on cases involving a broad range of internet sex crimes, acting for clients charged with offences involving indecent images of children, online ‘’grooming’’, sexual communication with a child, attempts and related crimes. Internet sex crime cases can be complex, and the potential for miscarriages of justice is high. We are dedicated to providing a robust defence for our clients, ensuring that every piece of evidence is interrogated for accuracy and integrity.

When it comes to such potentially devastating accusations, you want to be sure you have an expert lawyer on your side. Our experience and expertise in this area of the law mean that we have the in-depth understanding to know how you may have become involved in an investigation into internet sex crimes, and what we can be done to protect you.

Being convicted or even simply accused of an internet sex crime can have significant consequences for your life, your liberty and your reputation. Some internet sex crimes carry a significant custodial sentence, and when not properly managed, an accusation can destroy your career and your relationships. It is essential that you act quickly if you are worried about internet sex crime accusations.

I have been accused of an internet sex crime, what happens next?

We understand that various circumstances could lead to an investigation or charges being brought against you concerning internet sex crimes. In many cases, the police receive information from the National Crime Agency (NCA) or an overseas equivalent - typically the US authorities. In many cases, this happens because your IP address has been captured.  Often allegations arise from exchanges with undercover police officers, posing as children, or vigilantes.

Seizing evidence

Once an accusation has been made against you, the police may attend your home with a court warrant. If they arrest you, they can search your property and seize your devices as they then have powers under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).

In internet sex crimes cases, forensic examination of the devices seized by police can take months or even more than a year.  If you are subsequently charged, we work with some leading forensic computer experts to attempt to ascertain what may have happened.

Attending the police station for an interview

You may then be invited to attend a police interview shortly after the police have attended your home. The police may decide to arrest you, or you may be asked to attend the police station voluntarily.

If you make admissions

If you make admissions, either in full or in part, we will often seek to negotiate with the prosecution about the ‘’BASIS’’ upon which you will plead guilty, in order to minimise any sentence as best we can. We might also seek to advise on psychological services, again to seek to mitigate any sentence.
