According to police numbers, there has been a rise in domestic abuse incidents directly related to the Coronavirus outbreak,
They say that reports have been linked to the lockdown and that they were preparing for some serious incidents.
The police have linked this to the very stressful situation we all find ourselves in by being “locked in” almost permanently.
The Justice Secretary Robert Buckland has said that there may be more cases of domestic abuse, online crime and fraud during the lockdown.
There have been some startling percentage increases in domestic abuse incidents reported to the police. Avon and Somerset Police reported a 20.9% increase in a matter of two weeks.
Our experience is that people who complain about domestic abuse do so and then bring to the floor issues that they say have happened in the past which they have not previously reported, such as severe offences, including rape.
