Mr S was to be interviewed by the police in Shropshire.
He had been accused of sexually touching a friend whilst out camping.
He denied the offences but wanted to know if he should make a “No Comment” interview.
We advised that we should speak to the police officer (OIC) and get disclosure as to what the Complainant was saying.
Full instructions were taken in relation to the disclosure and it was clear that Mr S had a defence to advance.
In those circumstances we arranged a police interview under caution, attended upon him, assisted him during the interview and helped him by reminding him of some points that he had forgotten from the instructions that he had previously given us thereby allowing Mr S to put forward his full version of events and therefore defence to the police.
Five weeks later the police decided to take no further action. The case had gone away.
